Quilt-in-Box Guild Project 2019-2020

In the fall of 2019, our guild started a Quilt-in-Box project. Each of us chose a collection of fabrics to put in a project box and a quilt block which we’d be happy making every month—a total of nine times. A rota was set up with the list of participants and names of the blocks they were making pasted to the inside of each box. Each month our box passed to the next person on the list. We then made our chosen block with the fabric in the new box. At the end of the rotation, each of us had 9 different blocks, all made from our own fabric collection. We weren’t supposed to see the blocks that were being sewn in our own box, so that at the end, it was a really fun surprise to see what different folks had done with our fabrics.

It’s a great project for a guild, and we plan to do it again.

Folks are just starting to assemble their quilt tops, so the photos below are works in progress (WIP). Eventually we will have a gallery of completed blocks, but for now it’s fun to see what is happening.
